Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda Review

This is my very first review so I'm sorry for any mistakes that may occur. Let's get started.

Here is my review of Simon vs the Homo Sapiens agenda by Becky Albertalli.

THE PLOT
This is an adorable coming of age story about a sixteen-year-old named Simon who is not so openly gay and he talks to someone online named Blue. One day someone blackmails him as they found out about Simon being gay. It is his journey to try and find himself and falling in love for the first time.

THE WRITING
I love Becky Albertalli's writing it is very easy to fall into and grips you from the beginning. I will probably check out her other book which is The Upside of Unrequited. Her writing makes the book go more quickly than you want it to.

THE CHARACTERS
I like the characters in this book and how the characters in this book don't create drama for the sake of creating drama. Simon deals with any situation thrown at him with maturity and a rational mind, he thinks with his brain and not his emotions. When a character does create drama for no reason he tries to deal with it. Except in one occasion which I think could be dealt with a little better but I also understand where he is coming from as not every human can deal with every problem rationally.

I love the family aspect in this book, so Simon isn't out being a teenager and getting drunk without his parents worrying about him and there being consequences for his actions. I love how he has a pretty healthy relationship with his parents which I think would be good for young readers.

MY FEELINGS
OK, so I really enjoyed this book, which is saying something coming from me because I don't usually enjoy contemporary or lovey dovey reads. I found this book to be absolutely adorable. I was so upset when it was finished, I wanted more. I don't want to give it back to my library and just read it over and over. I had a smile on my face while reading this book.
OVERALL
I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone, whether you like romance or not, I dont and I loved it. Overall I gave this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars.
